Privacy
Draft, pending review by TSET. Last updated 6 October 2026.The description of cookies and third parties below is accurate and was checked against the live site. The sections marked “to be confirmed” are outstanding.
If you do nothing
Swap Up does not set any cookies until you choose “Accept” on the cookie banner. If you decline, or simply never answer, no analytics or advertising cookies are set and no advertising company is contacted.
Two things load either way, because the site cannot work without them:
- Fonts are served by Adobe (
use.typekit.net). Loading a font tells Adobe your IP address and browser, as any request does. - Performance measurement. Our host, Vercel, records how quickly pages load. It does not use cookies and does not identify you.
If you accept
Accepting loads Google Tag Manager, which in turn loads measurement and advertising services. These are the companies involved and what they are for:
- Google Analytics — how many people visit and which pages they read.
- Google Ads, Meta, Snapchat, Pinterest, Spotify and StackAdapt — measuring whether our campaigns reach people, and showing Swap Up adverts to people who have visited before.
These services set cookies and similar identifiers that can recognise your browser across other websites. That is what makes advertising measurement work, and it is the reason we ask first.
What is stored in your browser
Whatever you choose, two small items are stored on your own device and are never sent anywhere:
- Your cookie choice, so you are not asked again.
- Which filters you last used on the feed, so going back to the feed does not reset them.
Videos
Video pages show a still image, not an embedded player. YouTube is only contacted if you press play. Until then YouTube does not know you were there.
Changing your mind
You can change your cookie choice at any time. This clears your stored answer and asks again.
Clearing cookies in your browser settings also removes anything already set.
To be confirmed
These are outstanding and will be completed before launch:
- Who controls this data and how to contact them.
- How long each service keeps it.
- How to ask what is held about you, or ask for it to be deleted.
- Whether this site is intended for under-13s, which changes what may be collected at all.
