How To Drink More Water Without Hating It

You’ve heard that water is healthy for you your whole life, yet nobody’s out here begging for a glass of tap water. It’s not always the most exciting, but it truly will make you feel better than other drinks. Here’s how to get more without forcing it.

Piggyback it on something you already do.

You check your phone like it owes you money. Every time you unlock it, take a sip. Congrats, you just built a system without doing any actual work.

Stop drinking sad water.

If plain water tastes like nothing to you, that’s because it’s water. Yeah, cold water is great after a long practice, but if you’re tired of it the rest of the time, jazz it up! Toss in some fruit and doctor it until you like it.

Carry a bottle that makes you happy.

We all have our favorite, so carry it around with you and fill it up when you can. If it’s close by and available, you’ll probably drink more of it.

Notice when “hungry” is actually just “thirsty.”

Your body sends a pretty confusing signal here. Next time you’re suddenly starving for no reason, drink water first and see how your body responds. Sometimes, dehydration disguises itself.

Just drink more than yesterday.

Yeah, eight glasses of water (or 64 ounces) is ideal, but it’s hard to go zero to 100. Just drink one more cup than you did yesterday. Your body will feel the difference.

This isn’t medical advice. Reach out to a doctor or nurse with questions or concerns.
